SERAPHIM (OMEGA)
Calavera Series — No. 4
Seraphim Omega is the fourth piece in the Calavera Series and was created as the sister piece to Seraphim Alpha — sharing the same underlying language of biblical angelic imagery, layered construction, luminous silicone, metallic surfaces, and modular featherwork, while taking the design in a distinctly more feminine direction.
Unlike many Morgue Studio pieces, which are built around the Dahlia sculpt, Seraphim Omega features the Athena sculpt as its silicone base. The more feminine proportions of the Athena sculpt give Omega a character and presence of her own, while maintaining the imposing, otherworldly quality of the series.
The silicone base is finished in layered metallic colors inspired by the iridescence of peacocks and other vividly colored birds, creating a surface that shifts dramatically as the piece moves through light. Beneath the outer shell, the silicone features Aramaic biblical tattoos and inscriptions, along with a series of tattooed eyes that remain hidden until the shell is removed.
The thermoplastic outer skull shell carries the same sculptural and inscription-based language as her sister, but replaces Alpha’s carved eye openings with individually set iridescent glass rhinestones. Each eye catches and reflects the surrounding light, producing an effect that is difficult to appreciate from a still image — the eyes appear to sparkle, shift, and almost move across the surface as the mask is turned.
The effect continues onto the leather backplate of the adjustable leather harness, where several engraved eyes are set into the leather with matching iridescent rhinestones at their centers. Together, the eyes create a striking visual rhythm that follows the wearer as they move.
Like Seraphim Alpha, Omega incorporates integrated featherwork into the outer shell along with a removable modular feather plate that can be repositioned across different areas of the mask. Omega’s feather plate carries slightly more featherwork, giving her silhouette a softer and more elaborate character while allowing the piece to be configured into multiple looks.
The silicone base also contains a phosphorescent glow, charged through exposure to light and revealed in darkness. When the outer shell is worn, the combination of luminous silicone, reflective eyes, metallic color, and layered sculptural forms creates an especially striking effect. Remove the shell, and an entirely different face is revealed beneath — the tattooed eyes and Aramaic markings of the silicone base becoming the focus.
A study in duality, transformation, and the beauty of the unfamiliar, Seraphim Omega is a fully handcrafted wearable sculpture created to reveal something different with every change in light, angle, and configuration.
Each piece is individually handcrafted, with variations and subtle imperfections that make every work unique.
