SUMERIAN DEATH
Calavera Series — No. 1
Sumerian Death is the first piece in the Calavera Series, a collection exploring death, ancient symbolism, and the darker side of the sacred through the language of contemporary sculpture and special effects.
Handcrafted from silicone and built with the intention of feeling less like a mask and more like an artifact, Sumerian Death combines sculptural realism with elements of ancient ritual. The surface is individually tattooed with Sumerian inscriptions using a tattoo machine — giving the markings the permanence and character of actual body art rather than painted decoration.
Long, weathered dreadlocks frame the face, adding to the presence of the piece and reinforcing its sense of age and history. Every element — from the silicone skin and tattooed inscriptions to the hair and finishing work — is deliberately constructed and finished by hand.
The result is a piece that sits somewhere between sculpture, relic, and wearable art.
Sumerian Death was created as an exploration of humanity's relationship with death and the ways ancient cultures gave form and meaning to the unknown. It is a study in texture, craftsmanship, and atmosphere — made to be experienced as much as it is to be worn.
Each Morgue Studio piece is individually handcrafted, making every work inherently unique.
